Negatives:Multiple Grammar and Spelling Errors: You get used to them after a while but a nice thorough editing would do wonders for the text.
Confusing Names, Places, Terms: There is a LOT of new information as this world is introduced, and it's a little hard to keep track of it all! A glossary might be helpful.
Marcus's Enculturation (Small Spoiler Alert): I found it a little hard to believe Marcus so quickly accepting his new life in Lyrridia. A little more explanation of his life on Earth, or maybe having Eleanor ask something like, "Aren't your parents worried about you/looking for you?" would make the transition much more believable.
Positives:
Vivid Imagination: The author knows his world well and is very good at description. You can tell he has spent a lot of time thinking about Lyrridia and its history and inhabitants. The story would make an excellent movie - very visual and full of action.
Exploration of Themes: Coming-of-Age, Love, Sacrifice, Role of Magic, Power, Friendship are a few of the many explored topics that are handled with maturity and insight.
Memorable Characters: The secondary female characters are all a little too similar (stereotypically "motherly"), but otherwise the characters are relatable and engaging, especially the main characters.
Overall, the writing needs a little work - besides the convention errors, the dialogue is a little stiff at times - but the story is worth it. The story is highly immersive and absolutely enjoyable to read, and I am VERY eager to read the next two books in the trilogy!

Wielder of the Flame Legacy of the Flame Book 1 eBook Nikolas Rex Lorelei Logsdon Reviews
First off I know the author and so am able to glance behind the scenes. Looking through the reviews there were several that I agreed with. The author now has an editor so that will take care of the problems regarding spelling and sentence structure. As for the story itself, I do agree with the review that pointed out that Marcus was quick to accept his new situation. However, people react differently to situations like that with some being more able to quickly accept and others less so. I would think the presence of immediate danger helps to determine how quickly someone accepts their new surroundings. The story itself is well done, certainly better than when it was first put together 8+ years ago. A lot of information is given throughout the book and a glossary of people, places, and events would certainly help. For me the book was well written, looking past the flaws which are getting fixed, and the story definitely had a lot of coming of age themes which is not my usual cup of tea but I powered thru it since my friend asked me to read and review. I'm glad I did because it left me wanting to read the next book once it is finished.
I loved this book! The writer does a good job with descriptive imagery. I could really picture what was happening. This book would make a great movie. I can't wait for the second one!!
this is just me personally and some out there may think differently but the best way I can sum up this book is just flat out boring
Amazing Story fully captivating
I've loved it so far. It's actually convinced me to get a and start reading again )
Very well written. Has kept me reading longer than I've got time for on multiple occasions.
Its a solid piece of beginning writing. The style follows some basic fantasy tropes like a wide array of characters with difficult names, fantasy animals, and a good deal of magic, however the story of new friends coming together and beating long odds is fun and exciting. A revised copy with some editing is needed to really sure up the book, but overall it is a fun read for Fantasy enthusiasts.
While the end really brought things to a climatic height, the lead up was full of hills and vallies. I liked getting to know the characters as this was very much a character driven novel. My only complaint throughout the whole book would be the excessive detail forndescriptions whether it's the color of the sky at certain time or the angle of one's shoes and the shadows cast...my point being is that sometimes less can be more.
Overall love the story & characters and look forward to a sequel!
