What better way to drown yourself in a romantic mood, then to read a Susan Mallery book? The title says it all, irresistible - a few pages in and you'll be hooked! Let us see you try to put the book down before reaching the last page. Impossible.Elissa Towers sworn off men, her daughter Zoe is too young, and she doesn't need complications. That is, until her handsome neighbor steps in to help her change a spare tire, one day, and she feels the need to repay him. Every rule demolished as their relationship blossoms from mere friends to something more intimate.
Irresistible may have its fun and sexy moments, but it is far from being light; not your typical fairy tale Oh yeah, there is an imitation of a common girl catching the eyes of Prince Charming and falling in love, but the raw emotions - the emotional roller-coaster ride the characters will put you through, will have you sympathizing for them.
I rarely read adult contemporary romances, but I have to admit there is a certain charm to it, that sort of draws you in. One being how realistic the characters are; the situations each and every character were placed in can happen in the real world, to about anyone. The circumstances allow readers to better relate to the book, and even easier for them to get sucked into it. Rather than to say it is the charm of a contemporary romance read, I should say it is the charm of a Susan Mallery book. This maybe the first book I have read of hers, but from reading the blurbs of her other books, it seems she likes to give her characters something to fight for; something dark and taboo. What I mean by taboo is the dark past that her characters lived - the protagonists are far from being the "Perfect-Little-Misses". As Elissa here, she did things in her teens in order to live; in order to keep her and her child alive. These things may be looked down by many, but she did what she had to do and the important message, is that she fought and is thriving for something better. Heck, even Prince Charming himself - Walker - has his own dark secret and is fighting demons of his own. As much as I hate to admit it, I believe I got quite sentimental with this read.
I would read this book for the sweet romance, alone. But Little Zoe is also a plus. She is so cute! The relationship that grew between her and Walker, is something special.
I will be checking out Susan Mallery's Sizzling! I just adore Reid and Lori's bickering. ;)
Happy reading!

My girl loved it
Walker is on a mission to find the lost love of a man who died in his platoon. All he has is a first name, and Ashley appears to be pretty common. To escape his meddlesome grandmother and family, he takes an apartment in a rough part of town, and constantly finds himself rescuing his neighbor, Elissa a single mom with a couple secrets of her own.
When grandma steps over the line (an on-going occurrence with grand dame Gloria Buchanan) and threatens Elissa to keep her away from her grandson, Walker confronts her and she drops to the floor, breaking her hip as she has a mild heart attack. Despite Walker's pleas that he will never be a part of the Buchanan restaurant empire, he steps up to the plate for the good of the family. Soon he has the employees, fearful of saying and doing the wrong thing in front of Gloria, happy as clams (kind of like in the movie "9 to 5"). Brother Reid has the dubious honor of hiring the round the clock nurse care, and since he has not changed much since "Delicious," you can imagine they will be busty.
As Elissa reconciles with her own estranged family, the two realize that they have deeper feelings than they want to admit. Their chemistry flows off the page, and Walker is the daddy that her daughter Zoe never has had. Will the pain of their pasts and their sociological differences keep them apart? Will he ever locate the right Ashley?
Mallery's second Buchanan sibling story is great and can stand on its own, but since there are so many inside references the previous novel, I recommend you read "Delicious" first. Soon to be followed up with Reid's story, "Sizzling," which is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
I LOVE ANY AND ALL OF HER BOOKS....
I seriously cannot rave enough about SUSAN MALLERY'S books.
The first one is as good as the second, third, fourth as many as she has written ....LOL )
Any of her book's or series is just as interesting as the first one you begin reading .
Awesome, excellent reading... I would recommend any and all SUSAN MALLERY'S Books.
Once you read just one of her books ) you just wont want to ever stop ,
Walker is the ultimate vision for a tough and handsome man on the outside and a big teddy bear on the inside.
Susan set up Walker in the first Buchanan book so I loved seeing how he resolved his conflicts. I also like how Susan creates such strong women in the female leads. Elissa has done quite well on her own with her 5 year old daughter and Walker comes into her life just as it gets more complicated. The plot was realistic and heartwarming with a little more conflict than in the first book in the series. I do not like violent story lines so this one was just enough for me. Now on to the third book and Reid....should be interesting.
